Minghella Film Festival Short Film Competition

For young people aged 19 and under

You are invited to create a 5 minute short in response to the theme 'A great day for the Isle of Wight' - inspired by Anthony Minghella's 1997 Oscar acceptance speech. This was the memorable moment when Anthony brought the island to the attention of audiences worldwide, revealing not only his deep affection for his home, but also his generous instinct to share and celebrate his success with us all.

All films will be seen by a panel of Anthony's friends and family. Our favourite entries will be presented in public, on the big screen at Cineworld, on Saturday 13th March.

How to enter

You will need to confirm your intention to submit a short for consideration by 1st February 2010. Send your finished films to us in high resolution DVD format by Friday 26th February at the latest. Each DVD must be clearly labeled with your contact details and each entry must be accompanied by a completed submission form. Please do not send any original or irreplaceable material, as entries will not be returned.

Technical Details

Your films can be up to 5 minutes long, including titles and credits. They must be your own work and not copied from anyone else or, if you include anyone else's material, you must have obtained their permission to do so. This includes any music, photographs or written material.

Please make sure you have the consent of all the people you feature in the film, and don't post personal details about other people. You need to have signed consent release forms for any actors or extras, and if you are working with 16-and-under year olds you need their parents' consent too. For more information on consents go here

Note: The panel's decision is final on the winning films. No correspondence will be entered into.
